Sustaining the natural integrity of Fraser Island together

PURPOSE OF THE FRASER ISLAND NATURAL INTEGRITY ALLIANCE

Address issues threatening the future sustainability of Fraser Island’s natural environment.

FUNCTION OF THE FRASER ISLAND NATURAL INTEGRITY ALLIANCE

Implementation of feral pests and weed management programs.
Implement programs that assist the wellbeing of the native flora and fauna on Fraser Island
Public education on the threats to Fraser Island
Facilitate the collaboration of the stakeholders in addressing the threats to the future sustainability of Fraser Island.

OBLIGATIONS OF FRASER ISLAND NATURAL INTEGRITY ALLIANCE

To use a whole of island landscape approach to plan strategic weed management programs
Participate in on-ground works in controlling a variety of invasive weed species
Provide better collaboration between government agencies and non government organisations (NGOs)
To use the skills of the Alliance members to best achieve outcomes.

OUTCOMES TO BE ACHIEVED

Have all feral weeds and pests on Fraser Island eliminated, contained or under control
Implementation of effective projects
Established native plant nursery specific to Fraser Island
Better education and awareness to the public through communication tools including booklets, leaflets, signage and internet.
