QUEENSLAND PARKS & WILDLIFE SERVICE
The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) is part of the Department of National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing within the Queensland Government.
QPWS is concerned with the management of protected areas within Queensland, including national parks, recreation areas, state marine parks and world heritage areas.
As the land manager for the majority of Fraser Island, QPWS is a key stakeholder in FINIA and provide resources to liaise with and support FINIA partners and their projects.
QPWS conduct a series of volunteer programs on Fraser Island with opportunities across a broad range of management activities.

BIOSECURITY QUEENSLAND
Biosecurity Queensland is part of the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) and provides services to support the management of weeds and pest animals.
DAFF plays an important role in increasing agricultural productivity by working closely with local governments, industry, communities and other stakeholders to reduce the risk and impacts of weeds and pest animals to Queensland.
This includes:
- management of weeds including bitou bush, annual ragweed and parthenium to reduce infestations on Fraser Island
- increase weed awareness to prevent invasive plants being brought onto the Island
- prevent the impacts of weeds on native vegetation
