We need your help preventing invasive weeds, pests and diseases from hitching a ride when you come to K’gari keeping the island special for everyone to enjoy.

K’gari is an incredibly important place. Recognised by the World Heritage Committee in 1992, K’gari attracts over 500,000 visitors every year and that number is expected to grow as we approach the Brisbane Olympics in 2032.

K’gari has a growing list of invasive weeds, pests and pathogens – the latest of these being Phytophthora heveae, a soil-based water mould. These fungus-like organisms cause severe root rot, blight, and dieback in a wide range of plants.

Before you come to K’gari make sure you check your vehicle, check your equipment and yourself.
